Shavuot: Connections, Commandments, and Cheesecake

Shavuot is the festival marking the giving of the Ten Commandments at Mt. Sinai. Our evening begins with a dessert reception – featuring Israeli wines, fruit, cheesecakes, and more – and a chance to connect with friends both old and new. The evening continues with a choice of learning sessions and concludes with a time of joyful prayers and song.

7:00 - 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a dessert buffet with cheesecakes and tea/coffee/wine
7:30 - 8:30 p.m. Choice of three classes

  • Cantor Shirel Richman: The Image of Ruth in Israeli Art
  • Rabbi Amy Feder - Ruth: A Conversion Story
  • Rabbi Rachel Bearman - Our Personal Sinai - Using the Story of the 10 Commandments to inform our individual pursuit of sacred inspiration

8:30 - 8:40 p.m. Transition time to gather together in a sacred space
8:40 - 9:15 p.m. Ritual/liturgical/worship service
