Eilu v'Eilu

A Debate on Jewish Values and American Politics in the context of the 2024 Election with Deutsch Scholars-in-Residence Dr. Tevi Troy and Rabbi David Saperstein

As the  2024 election draws near, in the spirit of Eilu v'Eilu (principled disagreement) Dr. Troy and Rabbi Saperstein will debate the merits and weaknesses of liberal and conservative policy in service to the interests of American Jewry, global Jewry, and Israel, as well as discuss pertinent insights from Jewish law, history, and values in context with today's most pressing issues, such as abortion, affirmative action, antisemitism, climate change, and more. At this critical juncture in American history, rife with partisanship and discord, Dr. Troy and Rabbi Saperstein will demonstrate how even political protagonists with sharply differing political, religious, and ideological views can engage in respectful and constructive debate.


ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:

Dr. Tevi Troy is a best-selling presidential historian, former senior White House aid and Deputy Secretary of HHS, and former Liaison to the Jewish Community in the George W. Bush Administration.

Rabbi David Saperstein is the former Director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, former President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, and former U.S. Ambassador for International Religious Freedom in the Obama administration.
