May 24 - The Torah of Sex
It turns out, Judaism has lots to say about sex: how we learn about it, how we do it, and its place in human life. Come learn a few "best of" texts from Talmud, mixed with some sources from the field of queer theory.
May 31 - Relationship Goals and Problematic Faves
Jews love to mention our ancestors, but do we really examine what their stories and lessons tell us about relationships today? We'll explore a few ideas about "good" and "bad" relationships in our attempt to determine what contemporary sexually active folks (including feminist, queer, and polyamorous folks) might take away from our ancient ancestors.
Meet Rabbi Nikki: Freelance Reform Rabbi Nikki DeBlosi, PhD (she/her), connects folks to the breadth and depth of Jewish tradition through inclusive, innovative, and insightful Jewish teaching, speaking, and ritual. Raised in a Catholic home in a Boston suburb, Rabbi Nikki converted to Judaism as an adult. Her academic background is in women's studies, queer studies, and performance studies. She holds a BA from Harvard University, an MA and a PhD from New York University, and an MA and rabbinic ordination from the Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion. Rabbi Nikki spent 8 years in the Hillel world. She's a queer and polyamorous parent, an avid reader, a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and an occasional choral singer.
